Premise Edit

Mr. T and the team uncover a corruption scandal in the city council of a small town. With help from Tom and Dick Smothers, the team investigate to try and expose the crooked council members. Can they solve the mystery, or will they die trying?

Plot Edit

It is bad enough when one person in the city government is corrupt. But when corruption is pervasive throughout the city government, that is the worst. That is what Mr. T talks about while testifying at the trial of former Wycliffe mayor Tom Calvin and his associates. As part of his testimony, Mr. T explains how he and his team solved the Political Caper with the help of the Smothers Brothers.

In Wycliffe, NY, Mr. T and the team are resting for the week. They end up meeting the Smothers Brothers. Tom and Dick Smothers engage in conversation with the team. Just then, a mysterious crime occurs in the area where they are. Soon, Mr. T contacts the police on CB radio. A man is found murdered in his home. He is in fact a known drug dealer. But who killed him? Mr. T and the team offer their service. The first piece of evidence leads to the owner of the restaurant that they were having dinner at, John Telford. It turns out that Telford has a criminal history. He was involved in multiple crimes and is a repeat offender. Telford admits to hiring the man who killed the drug dealer. He then that he was working for the mayor, Tom Calvin.

Tom and Dick Smothers uncover something interesting and tells Mr. T. It turns out that Mayor Calvin is under FBI investigation. While spying on the mayor, Kim Nakamura is shot in the shoulder. This leads to Mr. T going through the mayor's files and uncovering a major crime ring that includes the entire city council. A fight breaks out in the council chambers. In the end, Mayor Calvin and his men are arrested by the police and the FBI.

At the trial, Mr. T explains that when corruption is widespread throughout the city government, things can get really ugly. That is definitely what happened when Mayor Calvin was caught. A few hours later, the jury finds Mayor Calvin and his associates guilty.
